  • Miley, Alex Cooper, and Disney have officially confirmed that a 20th “Hannah-versary” special is coming in March 2026.
  • Here’s everything we know about the upcoming Hannah Montana 20th anniversary special.

It’s official: Miley Cyrus is celebrating 20 years of her iconic Disney Channel series/beloved blonde pop girlie, Hannah Montana. We all know how the story goes—and if you don’t, gather ’round. During the show’s run from 2006 to 2011, she played normal girl Miley Stewart, and international pop star Hannah Montana by night. All it took was a killer rotating closet, a blonde wig, and a dream! The show also soundtracked our childhoods thanks to bangers like “Best of Both Worlds,” “Nobody’s Perfect,” and “Gonna Get This.”

Miley has been teasing some sort of “Hannah-versary” special for quite some time now, and on February 17, she confirmed the news with a clip posted across her social media channels. (To which we say: sweet niblets!)

While her face isn’t shown, a black-and-gold stiletto pump steps out of a vintage Mustang with an “HM” license plate. Our excitement for the special can’t be tamed, which is why we’re giving you all the details before it drops this spring.

Fabulous Q! In a joint Instagram post with Disney+ and Call Her Daddy host Alex Cooper, Miley revealed that the “Hannah-versary” special will hit the streamer on March 24, 2026. This marks exactly 20 years after the show debuted on Disney Channel and changed Miley’s life forever!

What’s happening in the Hannah Montana 20th anniversary special?

According to a press release from Disney+, the Hannah Montana 20th anniversary special will be filmed in front of a live studio audience and include an in-depth interview with Miley, hosted by Call Her Daddy’s Alex Cooper.

This would mark the second time Alex has sat down with Miley for an interview, since the Grammy winner appeared on CHD in 2020.

“I was like, ‘Alex, just get your name out and ask her at least five questions without, like, throwing up,’” the podcaster said of the experience in 2024. She added, “I think I was surprised [with] how open Miley was in that interview…I feel like we’re just two girls talking on a couch and hanging out like friends.”

The special will also air never-before-seen archival footage, as well as rebuilt versions of the iconic sets from the show, including the Stewart family living room and Hannah’s rotating closet.

As of right now, Miley is the only confirmed cast member who’s returning for the special. That doesn’t mean we should write off any messages or appearances from her castmates, though.

Leading up to the “Hannah-versary,” Miley’s onscreen bestie, Emily Osment, reminisced about her HM era by posting a photo of a show script on February 5.

“On the heels of our Hannah Montana 20 year milestone, our beloved Georgie and Mandy’s First Marriage director Mark Cendrowski brought in his old copy of an HM episode this morning,” Emily, who played Lilly Truscott on the show, wrote, in part.

Other cast members include Miley’s real-life dad, Billy Ray Cyrus, as well as Mitchel Musso, Jason Earles, and Moisés Arias. We’ll be keeping an eye out to see if anyone else takes part in the special.

Will Miley perform as Hannah?

While rumors suggested Miley might bust out her Hannah wig for a one-night-only concert at Madison Square Garden—which, sadly, wasn’t true—it’s unclear whether she’ll actually do it for the televised special. We at least hope she’ll give us a taste of “Best of Both Worlds,” especially since Disney teased “there will also be some familiar *notes* that find their way back into the spotlight.”

It’s also important to note that Miley initially returned to Disney+ in 2023 for her Endless Summer Vacation backyard sessions, where she performed her hit from Hannah Montana: The Movie, “The Climb.”

What has Miley Cyrus said about the Hannah Montana 20th anniversary special?

Hannah Montana will always be a part of who I am. What started as a TV show became a shared experience that shaped my life and the lives of so many fans, and I’ll always be thankful for that connection,” Miley said in Disney+’s press release. “The fact that it still means so much to people all these years later is something I’m very proud of. This ‘Hannahversary’ is my way of celebrating and thanking the fans who’ve stood by me for 20 years.”

In the days leading up to her big announcement, Miley signaled that something was coming when she dropped a few film photos from the Hannah archives.

But, before that, she told Ryan Seacrest in July 2025, “It’s about to be the 20-year Hannahversary in March!” adding, “I want to design something really, really special for it because it really was the beginning of all of this that now sits here today.”

She continued, “Without Hannah, there really wouldn’t be this...me. It’s so crazy to think that I started as a character that I thought would be impossible to shed, and now, that’s something that when I walk into a space, it’s looked at as this sense of nostalgia or something that you have from your childhood. But now, I’ve sort of been integrated into everyone’s life as the character has.”

At the Palm Springs International Film Festival Film Awards earlier this year, Miley was straight-up asked, “Any Hannah Montana anniversary plans coming along?” to which she replied, “Absolutely, we’re working really hard on them.”

While she couldn’t give many details at the time, she playfully quipped, “I can’t tell you! You see the bangs.”
